The World’s 1st Multilingual Nepal Calendar is out.

On the occasion of the Nepal New Year – NS. 1145, the world’s first Nepal-lipi written calendar has been out. Although Nepalbhasa has its own original script – Nepal-lipi, the Nepami writers have used Devanagari script. Despite various reasons for this, Nepal Lipi Online (NLO) has been publishing Nepal-lipi script written Nepal calendar online since the New Year of NS 1130 (2009 AD).
Since this New Year of NS1145 (2024 AD), the printed version of the online has been published as “the first Nepal-lipi written Nepal calendar in the world”. The first copy was presented to Prime Minister K. P. Sharma Oli during the New Year greeting exchange gathering held at Basantapur Layaku yesterday through the National New Year Celebration Committee. The calendar was also presented to the New Year Celebration Committee Chairman Rajendra Shrestha and many other dignitaries at the gathering.

The publication was a joint effort of Nepal Lipi Online (NLO) and Nepalbhasa Cinema Bikash Kendra (NCBK). The calendar’s research, writing and editing work were undertaken by NLO Chief Editor Dr. Suwarn Vajracharya and while it was published by NCBK led by renowned film director Aryam Nakarmi this year. The calendar is a multilingual and multicultural. Its date, month and the year are written in Nepal-lipi script, Devanagara and English. The dates of Nepal Samvat, Bikram Samvat and AD are included. This calendar is expected to be useful for those who understand the importance of Nepalbhasa and customs and for those who live abroad interested in using Nepal calendar, Nepalbhasa and Nepal-lipi as well.
