Dr. Padma Ratna Tuladhar opens NEFIN Japan Convention

Tokyo – The first convention of Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) Japan was declared open by Former Minister of Health and Labour and advisor of NEFIN, Hon. Dr. Padma Ratna Tuladhar in Ikegami city hall, Tokyo last Sunday the 11th at the presence of a large gathering of Nepalese of diverse nationalities resident in Japan. The convention was presided over by Suwan Vajracharya, Joint Coordinator of the convention.

Addressing the convention, the chief guest, Dr. Tuladhar said, Nepal’s movement for Indigenous rights was one of many weaker movements in Nepal because the governments have yet to take seriously about the plight of the indigenous communities in our land of several minorities. Rights and well-being of the indigenous communities have still been denied despite the change of political system to a federal republic through the 2nd movement of people power. People’s dreams of a New Nepal are genuine. Yet, political bickering has slowed the peace process and the constitution drafting has yet to start. The Civil Society leader further said that the newly formed NEFIN Japan should take initiative to pressurize the CA and the present Nepal Government as to what kind of Constitution we Nepalese at home and abroad need to build a new Nepal.

Special guest Dr. Durga Bahadur Subedi, the Deputy chief of Mission of Nepal Embassy in Tokyo congratulated the new executive committee and shared the congratulatory message from Nepal Ambassador Dr. Ganesh Yonjan Tamang on his behalf. Another special guest, Hiroshima University Professor Dr. Keshav Maharjan, and guests and benifactors – NRN Japan President Bhavan Bhatta, Nepali Janasamparka Samiti Japan Mahesh Shrestha – UML Japan Committee Coordinator Surya Pathak, United Democratic Republican Front Japan General Secretary Harkha Thapa also congratulated the new executive committee led by Om Gurung, who gave the vote of thanks to the gathering.
