Yen (Kathmandu) – Nepal’s landmark World Trade Center building at Trripureswor in Kathmandu reflects the misusage of lands of local Newah community taken over by the government in the past. The WTC building stands on a land owned by Tribhuwan Universirsity had been taken over by the government for the purpose of building the TU, the national center of tertiary education from local Newah community. A write-up filed in reveals this pathetic story that so many local Newah land owners had lost their lands from Kirtipur, Gongabun, Mabuti, Kamaladi etc. some of which have been either left unused or misused like the one now on which stands the landmark WTC building.
